Welcome the web site of Robert Lee McLaughlin. To contact me use email address: email@example.com
I have been doing research for about thirty years on the McLaughlin line.
Please Read before continuing !!!
"Please let it be understood that I DID NOT do all of the original research on the information contained within these pages. I had many helpful cousins that contributed their research so others that do not have the capabilities to do their own research can find those that have come before them and helped make them what they are today. I spend hundreds of hours a year compiling, researching and building this web page for the use of others and ask nothing in return, but for others to do the same. These pages have helped many of our people locate their ancestors and/or connect to a family they have been long searching and that is my purpose."
If you want to return to this site, please BOOKMARK it, because when the database changes, so does the links on the Internet. But this page should remain constant.
I would warn the researcher to understand that the data on these pages is not perfect. They are full of errors and ommisions that hopefully we will be able to correct in the future with better data. It is my belief that a family tree or line is never completed or ever 100% correct in what it presents. I am constantly finding new data and new relatives that change what we previously thought was right about a family. The data shown here is just a "at this moment" of where I am at right now in my research and should be treated as such.
The numbering system on family pages is the Henry method. To determine the next generation back, simply take the last digit off of the person's assigned number and then look for the resulting number to find the parents.I started with the furthest relative I have traced making John McLaughlin who came to America right after the end of the Revolutionary War with is wife and six sons.
I have hundreds of photos of the family and plan to add many to the site. These include old photos that go back at least five generations. I would welcome any photos of the older or newer members of the family that you are willing to send me. Anyone on the site wanting to update or add pictures of themselves more up tp date are welcome. I will add them as they come in. Pictures can be scanned and emailed to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
as .jpg photos at my address at the top. I will up date the website continually.
There are over fifty-five life stories of family members on the site. If you would like to add your own or have information on a distant relative please let me know. This is a historical record of relatives lives as well as a geneaolgy site of factual data. Please make the life stories accurate.
I hope you enjoy what I have here and it will prove to be of value to you in finding out more about your own family ancestry.
Best Regards, Robert McLaughlin
Note: I had traced my ancestors back to James McLaughlin who married Elizabeth Best. They settled in Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky and rasied a large family. Most of the information on this site has come from my personal research. I made contact with Jerry McLaughlin that has proven to be an exciting addition to our family line. Jerry' father, Harold, spent most of his life researching our line. Jerry continued his father's work and we are all grateful for their efforts in taking us back much further than my research was able to do at the time. This is a work in progress. Corrections and additions are welcome.
